Ryan and Will | Norfolk Botanical Gardens Engagement Session |

FILED IN:

Engagements

I am a sucker for a great engagement story and this one is an awesome one!!  I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Ryan and Will last month during their engagement session at Norfolk Botanical Gardens.  They are a super fun couple! They are both very active (Ryan ran a 10k race the morning of our shoot!), they LOVE sports, food and traveling! Getting to know them a little bit was so fun and their session was a blast!!

I always like sharing how my couples got engaged, but this time I thought I’d do something a little different and let them tell you the story of their engagement!! So here goes….

Will: I invited several of her best girlfriends from high school and college through Facebook and arranged for me to propose to her at Yankee stadium in New York (which is her favorite sport and team) and for her friends to meet us there. I gave her the tickets for Christmas and told her that her friends were coming so they could enjoy the short weekend with her.  What she didn’t know is that I was gonna propose.

Ryan: Will surprised me with a Christmas gift of tickets to a Yankees vs. Red Sox game in NYC (I’m a big Yankees fan). He also had invited all of my friends!

Will: I told her later that I also bought tickets to the stadium’s museum where we get to hold the real memorabilia of the best Yankee baseball players to ever play.

Ryan: Fast forward to the game in July, we had about 15-20 people in town. Being aloof and excited to see everyone, I really didn’t put two and two together that they were here for the engagement aftermath. We went through a tour of Yankee memorabilia before the game started.

Will: So we arrive in the stadium and my friend gives me the ring in the bathroom before we go to the museum and inside they have a locker from the original stadium and beside that they have a locker that is the current locker room in the new stadium. Above it you can enter your name. I asked her if we could take a photo with her name under it and then I said lets be goofy and take a photo with my last name under it. So we put Cobb in the digital board and then my friend took a photo and a video and I got down on one knee and proposed.

Ryan: Nearing the end of the tour, Will wanted to get one more picture under a sign that said Cobb. After the picture, I tried walking away, but he grabbed me back and got down on one knee. I can still picture his face – TOTALLY nervous. Before he could get out the words, I said, “are you serious???” Ha! I thought he was kidding. You never can prepare for that moment. Anyways, his voice was shaky, but he got out the words, “I love you, I want my name to be your last name for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?” I said are you serious again I think…. and then said YES. And then started the shaking and crying.

I am so looking forward to their wedding this fall at Chrysler Museum of Art!! Cheer guys!! Can’t wait to see you soon!!
